Sue’s Best Ever Chocolate Frosting
- ½ pound (2 sticks, or 1 cup) butter, softened. Can be salted or unsalted butter
- 1 pound (or 500 grams, or 4-1/2 cups) powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1 to 2 tsp milk (if frosting is stiff)
- Using a flat beater attachment on low speed, start mixing butter and gradually add sugar and cocoa powder.
- Once combined, add salt and vanilla and turn speed up to medium.
- Allow frosting to whip until it is fluffy.
- If the frosting seems too stiff to spread, beat in 1 to 2 teaspoons of milk.
- If you aren’t using the frosting right away, cover the surface with plastic wrap, as this is a crusting frosting.
